A window from a mausoleum, one of a pair framed.
The intention was to hang the pieces in exterior windows and allow them to
be lit by natural light only.
The challenge was accomodating the lead-work in the overall room decor
which was dominated by rectilinear, straight-line chrome with gloss black
accents.
To make the transition from the free-form, dull grey organic appearance of
the stained glass, the frame was carved with a pair of beads. The inner
bead was detailed with a curvilinear arrowhead in each corner which was
then framed by a rectilinear border bead. This made the transition from
free-form to the disciplined straight line surroundings.
Similarly, the finish lacquer was formulated to be both a bridging color from
the grey-green of the caming to the jet black of its surroundings, and a
transitional sheen, half way between the flat grey of the came and the
gloss black room decor.
