About Carving...

Truly accomplished carved work requires
specialization although work to date has been
satisfactory for the job at hand.

With further experience, more challenging work
will be attempted when the occasion presents
itself..
Set of scalloped medallions with
spiral incised bosses, for historic
house entry reconstruction,
derived from original medallions
on fireplace mantle surround.

After carving, they were cut apart
into separate cartouches, mounted
as rosettes in the new entry
woodwork.
Polish "Imperial" Eagle carved for
cottage exterior. Later painted by
the client's father.

Lack of crown on the eagle whose
design was taken from a tiny
supplied illustration, indicates it as
post Revolutionary.

Sign made for and donated to the
Leslie Science Center Garden,
Suzanne Jackson and daughters
being the driving forces.
Walnut storage, presentation case
for heritage carving set.

The corner detail is on the pommel
of the handles.
The liner is french fitted using
velvet.
Frame and detail of one of two
carved frames made for L.C.Tiffany
mausoleum windows, approx 2 1/2 x
5'.

The design challenge was to create a
transition from the flat grey organic
shapes of the caming and glass to
the surrounding decor which was
glossy, metallic, black and rectilinear.

The finish, which was a semi-gloss,
greenish grey bridged the color gap,
the carved ridges in the frame
disciplined the linear forms...
"Paul Bunyan" bed of pine carved
with whimsical family crest.

The foot board cartouche was of a
single pine tree.
Lectern for Scio Township's first Fire
Chief, Wil Dane.

The medallion is the Scio Township
Fire Department uniform insignia
behind smoked glass.

Body red oak, flames, cherry.
