This table's fabrication album is twenty-eight pages long and the largest done to
date.

It documents all aspects of constructing the table, including views of the room it
was designed for that provided ideas for forms and materials. Discussions with
the client provided others...

Notes outside of the photo montages are not part of the album itself.

The montages are presented in essentially the order in which the work was
done:
The design began with a table marketed by Ralph Lauren, build of salvaged beams with a
glass slab top,
the North Atlantic Coast Dining table.

The center leg of the Lauren design was awkward and the overall design made the table
look taller (with the angle of the legs and the large cantilevers at the ends of the top)
than would suite the room it was intended for.  The room size also dictated a top that was
slightly longer.

The buffet handles and the chandelier in the room suggested some metal detailing. The
granite top of the buffet complements the surface qualities of the glass top .
Beams were selected from a collection accumulated over many years: the actual beams
chosen were salvaged during the restoration - still incomplete - of the original barn at
1960 S Maple during it's conversion into the workshop/studio...
